8th century Tang dynasty
Painted tera-cotta figure
Foreigner Diplomat

26.5㎝(H) Accessory: wooden box

Painted terracotta figures had been made

as burial accessories among the days

from Han dynasty to Tang dynasty.

They are made of no glaze

and painted with colors.

Figures with green glaze and tricolor glaze
  (sansai)were made in Tang dynasty,

 however painted terracotta figures

 still had been made.

Many of foregner figures are horsekeepers

so on, although this figure represents

Chinese style gratitude, so it is assumed

this figure was a Sogdian Ambassador.

Certification is written by

Noriki Shimazu the famous Asian

  antique researcher.
